Hi, I’m Michael Gipson — an IT Specialist by trade and an amateur photographer by passion. When I’m not solving tech challenges or keeping systems running smoothly, you’ll most likely find me outdoors with a camera in hand, patiently waiting for the right moment.

I picked up photography in 2024 and fell into it pretty quickly. Wildlife and birds are my main focus — there’s something about the patience it requires that I really enjoy. Most of my shooting happens in and around Carbon County, PA, where there’s no shortage of interesting subjects if you’re willing to sit still long enough. I shoot with a Nikon and do most of my editing in Lightroom Classic.

Photography isn’t my only creative outlet, though. I studied art in high school and that eye for composition has stuck with me. I’m also a writer — I’ve been slowly building a high fantasy novel called The Spider King since 2016, which keeps me plenty busy in my spare time.

The IT side of things ties it all together. I have a deep interest in data preservation and archiving, which is part of where the name The Lantern Archive comes from — the idea of keeping things safe and well-lit for the long haul.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to look around!
